Virtual Reality (VR) typically uses head-mounted displays (HMDs) and head tracking to immerse the user in a simulated world. Sights, sounds, and even touch are spatially located to provide the user with a convincing presentation of that world. VR requires graphics to be generated for everything in the world - objects as well as background - making it difficult to maintain high fidelity over large areas. Because of the totality and self-consistency of the virtual presentation, however, head tracking accuracy is not as critical as in Augmented reality (AR).
